Our History

The United Steelworkers Union founded Steelworkers Dental in order to provide affordable dental care to union members, primarily in the security officers sector.

Steelworkers Dental has since built a reputation for being inclusive. Our clinics are open to union members and to all members of the community.

Following the election of a governing board in 1998, three dental clinics were opened in Toronto, Hamilton and Ottawa. In 2000, a fourth dental clinic was opened in Mississauga. A new, more modern clinic is scheduled to be built in Hamilton in 2016.

Consultation

Consultation

During a consultation, patients discuss potential treatment plans with their dentist. Our dentists also take the time to explain the importance of good oral health care at home.

Hygiene & Scaling

While many patients need scaling, cleaning and polishing every 6 months, some patients may need scaling more often. These procedures help to keep the mouth, teeth and gums healthy by loosening and removing any build up of plaque and tartar.
